George Landegger has lived in Alabama for many years and loves the
area. He was close friends with Harper Lee, who was the author of the
book To Kill A Mockingbird. Mr. Landegger and Harper Lee had a
great friendship and although she lived a private life, she spent a lot
of time with her close friends. Mr. Landegger was always careful to be
respectful of the private life that Harper Lee chose to live. She was
not a recluse but did not like to be in the public eye. Although she did
have a good group of friends who she would go out with and spend time
with occasionally, she never liked to be treated like a celebrity and
preferred to live in a nice but modest home in Monroeville, Alabama.

Lee died in early 2016 and while George Landegger was upset about the
passing of his close friend, he now feels like he can talk about her
without the fear of upsetting or betraying her. He believes that the
world should know the real Harper Lee and feels relieved that he can
finally talk about her life.
